The story is actually told quite quickly: Rogen and his friend Jay are at James Franco’s house party when suddenly people are flying away and all hell breaks loose. As Rogen, Franco and the surviving crew very slowly realize it’s the end of the world and they’re left to die on earth.
Doesn’t sound funny? Well, it’s dead funny. Literally.
Well, you kind of know what to expect from a Seth Rogen movie, and this one doesn’t disappoint in this regard. Then again it’s a nonsensical mix about the dumb inner life of hollywood actors and a guide on how to survive the apocalypse disguised as a reality show.
So it’s really flat funny on some levels and cleverly funny on others.
And how could you possibly end a movie about the the ultimate ending? Well, I won’t spoil it, but to me it felt a little bit like a “Meet the spartans” moment. But funny.
